Our laboratory team member Frixos Stylianou received an international distinction, with the research paper, titled “Interactive Retrieval-Governed LLM Tutoring for Surgical Site Infection Prevention Education”.
The study received the Best Student Paper Award at the 22nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications and Innovations (AIAI 2026).
Held under the auspices of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and its Working Group 12.5 on “Artificial Intelligence Applications,” the conference took place in hybrid format from 16–19 July 2026 at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, in Crete, Greece.
The research team comprises members from CUT’s Department of Nursing and the Department of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Informatics. The collaboration was initiated by the team’s supervisor, Dr. Theologia Tsitsi, and her doctoral student, Konstantinos Vakanas.
The team’s primary objective was to develop an innovative Artificial Intelligence tool designed to support the education of nurses in surgical site infection prevention in a safe and reliable manner.
