SmartPLAIGO – Final Workshop (RSCy 2026)

Eratosthenes CoE, the eHealth Laboratory, at Cyprus University of Technology, and Stremble LTD, closely collaborated to develop SmartPLAIGO, an impactful digital ecosystem, that covers a wide range of EMS operational and administrative tools, that are used daily by EMS Personnel (Ambulance crews, dispatchers, administration), in Cyprus, aiming to reduce: a. the response time for life-threatening incidents, and b. the operational overhead of the Ambulance personnel, and thus improve patients’ life.

In the recent Workshop, on the 28th of April, and hosted by the RSCy 2026 Conference, in Paphos, the SmartPLAIGO consortium officially presented the project results and discussed on future directions, which are to expand the developed tools beyond EMS, and beyond Cyprus.

The digital solutions have been developed in close collaboration with EMS personnel, by building to an extent, on previous expertise (AVARIS emergency handling platform), and has been already deployed and validated in multiple pilots, ranging from small and simple to very demanding environments.

The #SmartPLAIGO solutions smoothly integrated into the existing processes of the Ambulance Department, at SHSO, supporting EMS operations in real-time, and also showcasing the long-term potential.

The tools overall have received positive feedback across all scenarios, and proven to be efficient, adaptable, scalable, and easy to use, exactly what EMS teams need.

A big thank you to all collaborators, and contributors of #SmartPLAIGO, especially the Ambulance Department of SHSO for their continuous support and expertise!
