Emergency Call Center Triage procedures and Ambulance Response Times are two of the primary elements influencing incidents handled by ambulance services. SmartPLAIGO aims to improve a relevant department’s response time and optimize the handling of ambulance fleets. The Ambulances’ exact placement is critical in how quickly an incident is handled.
This response time includes the amount of time that passes between when an Emergency Call is received and when the Ambulance arrives on the scene. Regulatory authorities evaluate ambulance service providers based on their ability to reliably meet and exceed these critical response times.
According to Van Barneveld et al. (2016), these may vary based on local conditions and available resources. For SmartPLAIGO Cyprus is used as an example case study.
The goal is to create and demonstrate the value of an extensive and intuitive platform to enhance ambulance dispatching, boost the general effectiveness of healthcare services, and advance public health and quality of life.

The healthlab@CUT team AVARIS (Emergency and Prehospital Health Care Support Network), a digital system having a call center dashboard, mobile devices for Ambulance vehicles, mobile devices for patient monitoring (to cover Emergency incident handling and prehospital patient support).
The Ambulance Department of the Cyprus Health Services Organization has been using this network in daily practice, since the end of 2018.
It is used to support Incident call handling, data exchange between Ambulance vehicles and the Emergency Call Center, electronic recording of all data related to an Emergency incident and deliver of incident information to the accident and Emergency department of the hospital where the incident is transferred.
SmartPLAIGO will be integrated into this network, to enhance ambulance management techniques.
